Hope they came out ok!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those in Christchurch and the immediate areas. At the time the quake struck I was about as far away from there as I could be. We had friends here from St Louis Missouri and were visiting Cape Reinga, the northern most point of NZ. We found out th at our daughter was in Chch on business and that she had survived the quake. She had just stopped her car outside Ballentynes(a large department store in the CBD) to get a coffee, walked into the cafe within the building, sat at a table, and the quake hit. she was narrowly missed by a falling drinks cabinet and tried to leave by the door she came in to find the rubble of the carpark above the building coming down. she said had to go to the other side of the building and climb over the rubble of collapsed buildings and over a car containing a victim that did not make it. she is ok but badly shaken.

It's just horrifying to see the level of destruction in Christchurch. On the news today they're saying that they've had to abandon the search for survivors for the time being, because a large hotel building looks like it's going to fall down, it's already "moved" sideways 10 feet at it's base and looks like the Leaning Tower of Pizza.

They've estimated 12 billion dollars damage in the city so far, but I imagine that'll just the tip of the iceberg. My thoughts and prayers go out to the 300 people still missing. Cheers, Terry. :'(
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That's great to hear your daughter is ok onagd, at least one bright spot in this mess.

Cheers Steve, I think internet access is still down for that area of the country, Hell they can't even get water! :(
Motorbike would be one of the few reliable means of transports down there right now, the roads look like a crumpled carpet, best Larry gets a motard in his shed when this is all over just in case.
Hang on he has a river hack, bet that's what he's out and about on. :)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

We have 75 confirmed dead in the mortuary, another 120 from one building that imploded look like none of them made it out.
Death toll looks like it will go close to 200.
Who would want to rebuild down there, the ground just isn't stable any more!
I know it's been there since the first settlers arrived but people are leaving and they aint coming back, who could blame them?
My city Napier was flattened (literally) by a huge earthquake in 1931 and was rebuilt from the ground up, cross fingers we haven't had another big one in the last 80 years, but the earth beneath Napier stopped shaking....in Christchurch it has been rocking since their first big one in last September!
Poor poor old Christchurch, it's like watching a real slow plane crash...... :(

Risen to 103 but that will go much much higher, my son is a cop and talking to his mates down in Christchurch they say 200+ is not unbelievable from what they have seen.
I can't believe how that CTV (Christchurch TV) building fell down?
It was 7 stories and there is like just one wall standing (looks like the stair well side) and 120 people missing on that one site!

TC will be at the airport, someone has to stear the big birds in.
the mt50 has proven to be ideal getting around. don't worry about the booze Sam, we lightened the pubs supplies, they can't use it. might go away fishing when the hard works over, the West Coast is looking good.
