New to me '76 CB750F

Well I've been looking for my first bike for about 6 months now and finally bought one. I got it from Nathaniel here on the forum. I drove 4 hrs to get it from Massillon, OH from Northern Kentucky. The bike is mechanically sound with the exception of a few things, and could use a paint job.

Here's "Stella"

I picked her up on Sunday. Anyone know how to get the bike registered and titled in KY? Do I need to have the bike notarized? Inspected?

I think the timing chain needs to be tightened, but I have heard that the noisy chain is a known issue. Someone correct me? If it is a problem, then I want to fix it. The oil gauge on the right side of the bike doesn't seem to work and looks like it is filled with fluid (but fluid doesn't move when leaning the bike slightly).

Any other things I should look out for? Again, this is my first bike!

Thanks!

Congratulations Mike! Welcome to the site.

Last time I did something like that in KY the sheriff had to inspect the serial number to insure it wasn't stolen, etc. Give the DMV a call and they'll give you the run down.

3 things that make noise: clutch in neutral - pull in the lever it goes away  ; cam chain - adjust & may go away ; primary chains - a good tuneup and carb sync is about all you can do to quiet that down. Those are the usual things and I won't go into unusual things that probably do not need to be talked about.

Thanks Jerry!

I'll look into those chains and see what happens.

I'm really just curious how they figure out how much tax I owe on the bike. The PO and I left the purchase price blank in the title when he signed it over to me, so I could write "Gift", "$1", "$250" or what I actually paid in the blank, but I don't know how the state taxes work on a bike that's 35 years old, so I don't know what's best to write in the field.
