Hello all! Please allow myself to introduce.......myself. I've been a long time lurker/creeper, but this is my first "real" post here. I bought this beautiful beast about a year and a half ago for my brother so he could ride with me, however he didn't want it so it just has been sitting until now. I recently sold my '81 GS750 and since its still cold here in NJ, I figured I could overhaul it by the time nicer weather rolls around. Plans include rebuilding the motor and suspension, making my own wiring harness, getting rid of all non essentials but keeping enough space for another person. I have been working on it for about 3 days so pics are a little bit behind so please bear with me.

This is the day after I got it. It has a king/queen seat so I decided to save it down a bit.

Here is a crappy pic of it after I moved in here new home.

Another update!
After two 50lb bags of baking soda I finally got the frame all done
here is the before and after, sorry if the pics are crappy I've been taking them with my phone.

Some profess, haven't updated in a while...
The front end is done. Lots of polishing, new grips, no switches.

I picked up this tank on eBay for $50. It's nit in bad shape despite the horrific paint job.

Got these wheels from a fellow forum member, they are from a DOHC but the hubs are the same size so I'm just relacing them to mine. I'll get another set of hubs and spokes so that way I have interchangeable wheels.

I'll post pics of the completed frame when it comes back from paint hopefully sometime this week.

The reqr wheel is a 16x4.00 Harley drop center. It's been
Powder coated gloss black and I'm currently lacing in Buchanan SS spokes.
I took a wire wheel the hub to get all the crap off of it. I was going to polish it but I like the look of it now. I also painted the finned middle part gloss black to match the wheels for a bit of detail. Here are some more pics.

Been a while since the last update. Things are going VERY slowly with the build but I guess it's better than no progress at all. Anyways, got my custom oil tank in from Curt Owen at AnythingGoes74. It looks totally awesome and was a fraction of the cost of an off the self one on eBay.

On top of that, I hacked up the frame a bit to make room for my seat hoop which is being made as I type also mocked up the seat and oil tank out of cardboard just to get a glimpse.

That's it for now, see you in another month for another update... Hopefully a lot sooner though. Cheers!

okay, I haven't updated in about 6 months. Progress has been slow during the summer so now that its over I've been in the garage a bunch more. Ill try to post these pics in order but I can't promise it'll come out correctly. Here goes:

Okay, hopefully that did it. I need a rear tire so I can get her rolling, then carbs and wiring so I can at least TRY to get it started. Sorry its been so long for the update but better late then never.

That photo of the front end in the chair is interesting because that chair is antique and would probably pay for your whole project if you do not ruin it.

Just because that chair was found on the side of a road does not mean it has no value.
Some famous paintings have been found in homes where the owner did on know what they had, until someone told them.

Go to yellow pages and look up people that restore antique chairs.
They can tell you about the chair.

It wasn't a DIY kit. He actually did all the work for me and pressure tested it. The only thing I had to weld we're the mounts to the frame. His website is anythinggoes74.com. Very nice stuff at more than reasonable prices.

The bars on there right now are superbike bars flipped around and upside down. I got a 4 cell Antigravity battery and fits perfectly in the right side of the Santee box.

Wow that did turn out pretty clean. Good work! I love the look of the rear triangle w just the custom tank. How was the hookup for that? thats definitely on my list for this winter but moving the electronics to the seat hump (to be) is worrying me haha. Im not much w wires. Its inspiring to see other members carrying out their visions though. Again, very cool build bud (-:

Thanks for the compliments everyone! It just goes to show what you can do when you talk to people who really know what they are doing. Don't worry about the wiring, it's actually very easy. I used the stock harness and just modified it for my needs. That way I didn't need to worry about connections matching up. Feel free to shoot me a line if you need any help when time comes. As for the oil tank, I asked the guy who made the tank for the correct fittings for a Honda and he had no problem. On the engine side I sawed off the stock oil line connectors and used them. Super easy!

When I made the seat pan I drilled two holes where the old battery tray connected to the frame, insterted two machine screws, and its held on the frame by wingnuts on the underside. If you go to page 1 of this thread you can see the two screws in the seat pan.
