okay, i might as well just start this thread vaguely, because i'm likely to have some more puzzles for you sherlocks. here's the situation:
i wired up my cb550F. i used the switches from my '77cb550K, because the wires don't run through the bars. they apparently came stock with a cutout where people like to dremel the others to allow the wires to come straight out the side of the housings, avoiding the bars altogether. before using these, i checked and all of the wires matched on both styles, one having bullet connectors and the other having multi-pin clips. this was no problem, i just got new connectors. i have a few random wires running around with no mate, but this isn't my first problem. (i'm tracking them down in my honda manual PDFs, but if anyone knows these colors by heart chip in...br/red coming from the left switch housing ('77K), bl/yellow coming from the main '76F harness).
current mystery: i have power to my hot post on my starter. the start button sends power through the y/r wire, and the clutch switch sends through the g/r wire, both tested positively, but the solenoid isn't kicking. bridging the posts the starter engages, so it's not a faulty starter. i pulled the solenoid and installed one i knew to have been working, and still no go. what am i missing here?
