fork tube length question (CB750K4)
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:05:16 AM »
Can someone tell me what the length is of the stock fork tubes that came on a CB750 K4?  I searched, but didn't turn up anything (not saying I simply didn't miss it though).  The tubes I took off of my bike were right at 22 3/4".  Cycle X's web site is showing that that length is 1" shorter than what should be stock.  They're showing stock length to be 23 13/16".  Can someone verify that?

Never mind.  In the mean time (after a good bit more searching), I've found a couple of suggestions here on the forum saying the stock length is roughly 23" which is very close to what mine are (22 3/4").  It's definitely closer than the 23 13/16" CycleX is suggesting is stock.  I think what they're calling stock is 1" taller than what stock length actually should be.

I just spoke to a guy there and he said there's the standard tube length and then there's the standard -1" tube length... it all depends on the year of the bike.  Apparently there are two standard lengths.  ???

So, now I have to send the 23 13/16" tubes back and wait for them to get the 22 13/16" tubes in... which he said would be another month and a half... AAAAAHHHHH!  I need them, so I guess I'm going to have to simply wait.

Does anyone know of a different upper tube supplier for the 750 K4?  Something that's really good quality?

Fast from the Past might have what you need.  They're $135.00 (ish) per tube though.  I do not own a pair and can't speak of level of quality.   Worth having a look at least.

Cheers.

^ Thanks!  Now I need to see if Cycle X would be willing to give me a refund for the "standard" (23 13/16") tubes I bought from them.
