Making dads 73 custom cafe almost done LOOK
« on: February 24, 2011, 07:58:42 PM »
This was my dads cafe back in the 70's he was a custom painter from the grand rapids mi area. He sold the bike when i was 10yr old and always loved the bike. I'm alomst done with the bike It took some time to find the same body that he had. The fairing was cut to look like his. I had a good old friend of his R-VEE do the custom paint just like dad did. I custom paint bikes and cars to but I wanted Ray to do the paint work he knew the bike better than  I was 10 at the time.. I only had a mag that he was In back In 1976 chopper mag to go by and half of the spred has in black and white Ray had to talk to some of dads old friends for more detales on colors. So here Is some pics first pic Is dads. Hope you like dads not here now.. This Is a cool project cant wait tell summer to show It off!!!

I know I found a comp that has same looking swing but dont have the holes in it but i can have them cut in it and have it chromed. That will be on the list down the road. It was 3 inch's longer than stock that was in the mag of details. I just got done with seat pan  i cant find the brown that is on the seat.. might go with black
