Topic: 350F Cam Chain tensioner question..a new one

Upon reassembly with a fully functional cam chain tensioner assembly( lock/adjuster bolts removed, horseshoe works well(not stuck) cam in and timed, front guide in place, plastic end pieces in position on the rear tensioner/guide) I cant get the rear guide/tensioner retaining cap down flush to the cylinder head with the travel I get out of the horseshoe as I press down the guide/tensioner.  I am like 7-8 mm away and I am afraid to get the rest of the travel by cinching those retaining bolts down into that soft aluminum cylinder head..Is this normal???   Thanks!

If it's a struggle getting those bolts flush it's not right you should need only a little bit of force to clamp it down flush....... Dont force it!

I think the bottom end of the rear tensioner isn't seated properly. It can catch on something higher up and then you can't get theupper block to tighten down. Play with the positioning of the bottom end a bit and it should go.

There is a 'U' shaped housing it fits into with a guide to ensure correct assembly.
Its probaby jammed behind the guide. Get a flashlight and take a look. ( not sure if the guide is on 350f, all my experience is with 400f)
