I am not an unreasonable man, just a little stubborn.  ;)

I think we may have something in common, besides just bikes. 8)

Yay, threadjack!

Not to get involved in the point vs. Dyna argument (i run Dyna.. AND I agree with TT 100%)...

but just from a statistician's point of view, regarding the 'poll', you might want to consider this:

Every person that installed a Dyna.. they did it because there was something unsatisfactory about the preexisting system, right?
Be it user error, misunderstanding, laziness, or what have you... those people tried out a Dyna for a reason. That reason being that whatever they were replacing was sub-satisfactory. Maybe it even failed. But you can only check one box!

Just a thought.
The argument could be made that ALL the solid state data points should be added into "stock ignition: failed"

I installed the Dyna on a running bike, i was just making what i thought was an improvement that would reduce future maintenance.   The original points are now reinstalled and have 8,000 miles on them, with just filing polishing and resetting twice.

So I do not like your ALL idea...

I guess there is the Tinker-Factor.
 I certainly have it, too.
Replacing things just to spend some time working on the old gal . .

Maybe you should add a category: Wasn't Broke, still tried to fix it? :)

I have Dyna III Electric Ingnition system and have had problems with getting spark to all cylinders. I varies, where the problem goes. I today tested coils with multilmeter and got readings from secondary unit (or what it is called, sorry for my bad techincal english), whose indicated that my coils are gone. They work for are while, when they are cold, then when getting hotter, start to fail. I am pretty sure that they are 3 Ohm coils (EDIT: They are). Now I would like to try some 5 Ohm coils (for various of reasons), so my question is; What are the options from other that Dyna coils (I am short with money and have to get this fixed before I can continue with my turbo setup)? Thanks in advance.

Exactly why I installed one (well, also because it already had Dyna coils..)  used to do points all the time (some vehicles just have no other option), but when I got my 750, points were shot, rusty, and wouldn't run, when I saw the price to replace them was $60+, didn't take a lotta cypherin to figger that the next time I had to replace them I woulda spent more than the $120 I spent on the Dyna.  Even if I was using those awesome 8k mile points, I'd be working on my 3rd set now...
