New to the site, this is me
« on: February 27, 2011, 10:36:23 AM »
Hi Everyone, I'm based just outside London in the UK, spent most of my life on Triumph's. the '82 650 Nighthawk I currently have was intended as a cheapish 'get me by' to avoid being stranded at work at the end of late shifts when the trains aren't running, but I have to say I'm loving this bike and can see myself hanging on to it for quite some time. Had it for about 6 months and have got loads of tips from being on the Honda CB650 forum, thought I'd join this group as well, as you can never too much knowledge and I might even have some useful tips to pass on myself

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, a bit of history on my CB650 Nighthawk, made in 1982, as I understand it, only made for 1 year and the last of the SOHC units for this model, imported to the UK about the mid 90's and bought by me in August 2010.
Needs a little tidying up in places which I hope to get round to when there's some spare cash to spend on it, just rebuilt the front calipers and MC, only drama was a seized bleed nipple that sheared off when I tried to undo it, a mate of mine is going to try and extract it some time soon so at the moment I'm running a single disc front end, which seems perfectly ok, stops just fine, this is not a surprise to me as some of the other custom models of the time only ran a single disc as standard.
The exhaust is a Marshal 4-1 that was on it when I bought it.
Hopefully the picture will accompany this post, looking forward to swapping ideas and hearing everyone's stories about their rides
