fuses
« on: February 26, 2011, 04:58:25 AM »
Was trying to get the headlamp and taillight to work yesterday.  Went to the fuses which looked OK but have sat in the machine for 28 years, so I changed them with all I could find in town which were 7.5 amp rather than the 7 amp fuses I pulled.  That was the cure but I'm wondering If the extra half amp could cause problems later.

I wouldn't think twice about it if it were me.  The fuse is there to be the weakest link in the circuit in case of an overload or a short.  The next weakest link (prolly the wiring) is more than a half-amp away from failing, assuming the wiring is in decent shape.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I think even HondaMan uses7.5a in his new fuse block I don't think you can get the atc in 7a. The thing to look at is how long is that new fuse and is every thing clean and tight from one end to the other. You can get the 25mm fuse in 7amp.

Remember Larry, the main fuse needs to be a 15A, the head and tail can be a seven-point-five .... :)

Evidently there are two lengths of the "glass" fuses.

If you need the long ones, Advanced Auto or Auto Zone has a good selection. Sorry, I can't recall which store I got 'em from. (Yeah, I'm getting old - 74 tomorrow!)

I haven't had need to look for the short ones.

The "short" ones (the original fuses) are still available from Honda and the price isn't bad. The 7A included.

Thanks. Just hang in there and you will be!

It is just another day - nothing feels better nor hurts worse than it did the day before.

The GOOD LORD has been very good to me!
