Ok, so I got some more pictures.
http://s1172.photobucket.com/albums/r567/Mgbeaver/1975%20CB750%20SS/?albumview=slideshow
(same slideshow as before but with the added pictures)

I got some good shots of the wheel problem. Advice more than welcome.

The electrical system looks like a mess.

Since it has an extended swing arm I was thinking I can use the space in front of the wheel for a tool box or something. (shown in a picture)

I got a few pictures of the header pipe where it comes into the tail. I'm wondering if the headers match the RC tail pipe. There seems to be a bit of wiggle in the connection like the tail piece is slightly too big. (missing gasket or something?)

Maybe it's just me, but that head doesn't exactly look stock.

I got some better pictures of the head.

Idk. The valve cover isnt modified? Kind of interesting. Needs to come out anyway. Id pull it and take a peek at the cam. The other oddity is its an f from what i can tell. Is it a 76??are the case numbers close to the frame numbers?

The cover looks normal to me...but that's not saying much.

The numbers are:
Frame:CB750F-2001653    Made:4/75
Engine:CB750E-2518237

I've got an engine off a stockish 75 K5. CB750E-2511262
Is there any difference between the engines or was it just the styling?

If you take off the valve cover take a pic of the cam gear from the side and the valve spring retainers. You may have some good parts there. Or you may have a thrashed motor. Hopefully its good.

Will do. I think I'm going to just recut the bars. They did a sloppy weld on them. Is there a better way wo make them removable than the sleeve things? I want a way to remove them and put them back easily while still making them secure.

I was talking to my dad about the bike. He pointed to the goldwing frame sitting in fount of the shop and said I might adapt it to use the 750 engine...at first I though it was a stupid idea..allot of work and a heavy frame. The more I looked at it though it seemed like an interesting idea. I'm not going to do it, but it's interesting. I have been eyeing the forks from it though. I think I've heard of them being swapped in. They seem longer though.

If I say or ask anything stupid just remember first bike, first build.

Okay, I looked at your pics today. As far as the goldwing front end, thats a no go unless you want to use the comstars. Anything is possible but if your goal is to ride in the near future stick with as many stock parts as possible. Now to the frame and swingarm. Just get another one. If your boss wont sell you one let me know. They are out there and they arent made of gold. It will be much easier to just get another frame and swingarm. If that swingarm is in good shape, put it up on ebay. If its a dresda you will get enough to buy a frame and swingarm. the motor may be okay but obviously you need to run it to find out. a compression check wouldnt hurt although I wouldnt worry about it till you run it a few miles. Carbs look okay but you are missing the floats and needles for the seats. I assume you removed them. the pipe is a stock cb750f pipe, nothing real special there (sorry). the exhaust pipe is a russ collins but I think the baffle is gone so its basically a big glorified pipe. Keep it but I dont think theres much value there either. I would watch for another muffler that would fit if it were me. Hopefully the tank is good as a lot of the f tanks arent. If it is, it has some value as well. Looking at the whole thing I would say if the motor turns over and shifts through the gears I would hold off on messing with it further. I would start looking for a good frame and swingarm. You never know, yoiu might find one with an engine. If not I would clean up the replacement frame and then throw that motor in it and start back together with it. Make sure while its out that all the spark plugs will come out and put in some new ones before you reinstall. dont ask me how I know...

sorry if it seems like I am picking your bike a part. I assure I have started with worse, but my intent is to save you some time and frustration. You have some good pieces there but IMO you need some more if you want to fix that and ride.

I may be interested in the sl350 if the price is right. Mainly wanting the motor.

Mac wants $200.

guess that ones headed to the crusher. that'll net about 30 bucks and then no one will get any use out of it.

I want to say Mac has always been nice to me when I was in his shop but he has the same problem that we all suffer from. We see the potential in our bikes and not the reality of them.
With that being said heres my two cents. they're his and he will do what he wants with them. My brother is in the salvage business and I can tell you I have seen some neat stuff crushed after the owner of the salvage yard died. They get pennies on the dollar and those things are gone forever. Same thing here. That stuff has been sitting out for years and no one has been able to buy any of it because, frankly you can get that stuff other places much cheaper. I just bought a sl350 the other day complete for 160 dollars( I got it running in about 15 min). I bought two cb750s complete for a total of 700 dollars with titles and good paint. One had lesters. I told Mac those stories and he said that I stole them. Thats his opinion but in reality I get bikes like that all the time. They're out there and thats why his are rusting into the ground.

I might have to agree that you stole that SL350 while I was up there...  Ha.

Agreed, but like is said...

I am working on putting up a new craigslist post that has all of our motors sitting inside the shop (-cb750) for $100-$120. After I got the listing typed up I showed to to him and he agreed. I ask about the sl350 after that and he said $200. I would think it should be less, considering we are selling other motors inside for less, but I can't seem to get through to him. I don't know, use the craigslist ad to haggle it down to a sane amount. I'll post a link to it once I've got all the pictures uploaded for it.

To be honest it's getting to the point where I can't survive selling his parts. I get 10% commission. I don't sell much at the price he is asking. I got some bikes sold for him and he isn't willing to give me 10% on those. We sold the Ducati for $5000 and he is giving my $100; that's 2%. I discovered that the title had a different number than the bike AND tracked down the original owner who bought it in 78. Recently he ask me to list the RV camper outside for $32000 (I'd say worth maybe $28000) and he wanted to give me $200 for it...that's less than .007%. I haven't even made $800 in the 3 months that I've worked here. I end up doing legal work, answering the phone, talking to customers then we are busy, ordering parts, research, and babysitting the kid that tried to steal parts (who is now doing work for Mac to pay off the debt) for free. It is. I know I could make much more flipping burgers. It's not that I'm not doing work, he rely on me and Ray to keep this shop alive. Ray and him just got into a fight about something or other. Normally I wouldn't post this sort of thing, but I'm pretty much done. I'm post the CL ad as one last throw at getting some s**t sold.

I need another job fast. I'm broke and it doesn't look like things are getting better. My family is trying to get on food stamps so we can at least eat. If anyone knows of someplace I can find a job I'd be grateful. I'd prefer to work in a shop, but at this point I'd work just about anything.

You just can't make money on this stuff in a partnership easily. The only way to do so is to buy and sell together or on your own. The way it is now, you are selling HIS stuff giving HIM the advantage. Sadly enough, there just isn't much money in what we dabble in, and especially in such a frugal market area. I highly recommend a whole other venue if money is a motivator. It may help pay for some projects in the end, but it's going to be tough paying bills with it month to month.

Rebuild the floor in the kitchen of my mothers place.  I've worked with sheetrock and painted. Worked on a few basic roof repairs. I learnt how to wire a house and basic carpentry on shop class.

I worked in a computer shop for a year fixing laptops. Before that I fixed broken ipods and sold them on ebay. I've been working on computes for most of my life. File management, I can do that. I've got a system to find and organize files based of their size and date.

Printing yes, I've had to deal with them for years. One of the biggest things at the shop was providing phone support to get someones printer working. Programming I haven't done much of, but my best friend has been teaching me some basic things.

I live on MLK in Fayetteville by the way.

Back on the topic of my bike,
I wasn't planning on swapping out anything till it's been running for a while and I get a feel for it.
I think the problem with the wheel being off center is the hub of the wheel. It looks like the wrong wheel to me. I'd like to keep the swingarm if I can get it working.
The frame isn't in too bad a shape everywhere but the part above the engine. If I could find a frame with a title I might consider using that, but the only frames I know of at the shop have no title.
The tank is in good shape, but I want to us it in anything I build.

It's ok, I figured as much hen I really got to looking at it. I think it can be done, but I have to survive first.
