Show me your workshop!
« on: April 19, 2011, 12:45:05 PM »
Hey guys (..and gals!)

I'm redoing my workshop this summer and need some inspiration. The general idea is to make a functional and nice place to work. The shop is in the base of our house and is about 12m long and 4m wide.

The first few to-do points:
- Paint walls and ceiling white/light grey
- Paint the floor with epoxy paint (light grey)
- Build workbenches and shelving
- Install proper lighting and plenty of fixtures
- Paint a part of one of the walls with whiteboard paint for notes, sketches and ideas.. thinking a 2x2m area.
- Get a proper lift for the bikes
- Get all the tools organized
- Install movable airtool connector in the ceiling
- Style the shop so it's a nice place to work and a getaway ( ;) )
  * Fridge covered with foil of a nice bike pic
  * Stereo
  * Computer
  * Couple of chairs or a small couch
  * Paint one of the end walls in a checker pattern
  * Put up some nice posters and pictures

I'm doing a sketchup drawing that I'm going to put up later. Post your thoughts, ideas and pics of your workshop!

At my house in Denver the garage and driveway were enclosed within the backyard fence, so the lawn was my urinal! ;D

Foil covered fridge?  Is that so the government can't count the beers?

up in Michigan, it's a funnel with a hose going through the wall!

More so that a nice girl can serve me beer 24/7 and not complain :)

nice single car garage with gunsafe ,  storage shelves and cabinets nice tool box.  Two motorcycles ....  5 chairs piled all about for the smoking children.  Camping stuff piled everywhere because its easier than putting it back tool drawers open  screw drivers and pliers on the steps   Weight bench with bench part in middle of floor rather than with the weights two extra weight bars with weights in an attempt to break my leg.  weights on steps and thrown about for tripping purposes.
