I took apart this 550 fork lower leg to use with my 500 for dual disc brakes but when I took it apart it was a lot different from my 500 fork. It had no damper rod that screws into the top of the fork. So I am confused and don't have a book to compare. The 500 has a rod that screws into the top "cap" of the fork which holds the spring and that is held in the lower leg with an allen bolt through the bottom of the lower leg. Ok I caught my breath, I'm not sure my 500 fork leg will work with this assembly and could use a little help. Thanks.
