I'm working on my 73 cb750 and wanted to mount the front caliper behind the front for leg.

 I saw what is obviously a later 70s model where the caliper mounts behind the fork leg:



But I notice it just looks like earlier 70s hardware flipped.

Do I need a later 70s fork lower to do this, a later 70s caliper mount, or both?

On 73-76 750;
 get another caliper and hanger, make a set of shims for mounts, approx .200 thick.
 pop the flare fitting out of 2nd caliper, and move toward forkleg.
 toss or stash the spring and adjusters for caliper arms..
 mod the speedo drive if needed..
 make fender mount work..

 enjoy ...you now have somewhat adequate brakes..

Or to use dual calipers buy a set of early GL1000 forks- less machining and jerry-rigging.

The forks on on backwards, thats all...left is on the right, right is on the left.

Yep, flipping your forks around is purely for aesthetics, and does nothing for performance, but whatever floats yer boat. Make sure you get your front tire removed and refitted, most tires are 'directional'. Cheers, Terry.

 I have always heard calipers behind take less turning effort, and less flop tendency......FWIW...

 Looks MUCH cleaner on a custom too, keeps the lines behind, IF you run though steering tube, and T or Y below that..
