1975 cb750 project
« on: March 01, 2011, 03:40:26 PM »
I've had this bike for about three months now and have been steadily working on it. As the bike stands right now it is in boxes and I'm currently painting front fender and swing arm, next is frame and tank.

I'm shooting for an overall classic/race/cafe look. I'm trying to keep as many original parts on the bike as possible and only replacing/upgrading what needs it (philips head screws and aluminum valve covers to name a couple.

All as CHEAP AS POSSIBLE!

I really wanted to lengthen the tank but as I have no welding skills, don't want to ruin a perfectly good stock tank and not much$$ to have someone else do the work I came up an alternate solution.

Basically I'm going to add a peice of aluminum onto the back of the tank. This peice will be a solid sheet from the back of the tank all the way to the back of the cowling This wll then be fastened together with side templates to give it a solid look.

Here are some mock ups.

Comments, questions, and opinions encouraged (as long as they don't reference the #$%&yness of my drawings) Its the Idea that counts!

Thanks all!
