Have I been had?
« on: April 03, 2006, 06:19:39 AM »
I guess I did not look good enough at the picture of this seat before I bid, but I have now one it.  I am thinking it might be off of a cb500 twin, not four.  To be honest, I don't care as long as it would work.  In the auction the guy stated it was for a four, so as long as it came off one, that is all I care.

Let me know what you think.

From the pattern looks like a K7 or K8 possibly. I haven't done any K7 or K8 bikes yet, but I have two of each. Neither has a good seat, so really I'm only guessing. Just looks like the F3 pattern. And I've done a few F3 seats. So while the pans and rear is different the stitching is familiar.

Any thoughts if I will have any problem mounting up to my 72 Cb500?  Like I said, usability is key here!

You can even use a bazooka on a Vespa scooter... ;-)

That seat is off a CB550F - 1975-1977.  It will not fit easily on a CB500 - the tank/seat lenghts don't match up and you end up with a gap between the seat and tank.  The CB500 tank is shorter than the CB550F - I tried mounting a 500 tank on my CB550F and ended up with a gap.

Give it a try, and if you decide you can't use the seat, let me know - I'm looking for one to customize for my CB550F.

TinTin's got it.  After looking through a bunch of pics on bikepics.com I found this shot which pretty obviously shows what it is.  The poster of the picture stated it as a 750, but that is obviously wrong.  I suppose if nothing else I could try to see if would fit on my 78 cb550K, if not I can offer it up.  Thanks for the help, and if there are any other suggestions let me know.

I have the stock seat from a '73 500 Four. It's in pretty good shape, and while I hate selling parts from the bike, I ground off the mounting points for the seat, so can't imagine ever using it again.

Short version, CB500 seat for sale, excellent used condition, photos available, make offer.  ;D
