when tv stations shut down
« on: March 03, 2011, 05:18:50 PM »
remember when tv stations shut down at the end of the day?
some stations had a little video about a jet plane flying through the sky
and the final words were and reached out my hand and touched the face of god
does anyone know where i can find that video
i'm guessing it sometime in the late 50's or early 60's

Boy, I remember those days...except our stations in Chicago usually just played the National Anthem while broadcasting a shot of the flag flying in the breeze. Then the screen would either turn to snow or a test pattern.

My parents used to let my brother and I sleep on the floor in the living room on weekend nights, and we'd stay up late watching TV.  After the movie Poltergeist came out, we always made sure to turn it off before it turned to snow. :o :o

I remember on our TV when I was a kid when you turned it off everything shrunk down to a tiny white dot in the middle, and my old brothers always told me if you looked right at it you'd burn your eyes out.

There was one like that with an Indian head too.  No longer PC I guess.  I used to be big into video making and I bought a CD one time full of those test patterns and calibration patterns...  Kind of makes me wonder where it is now...

Ours did that, too, except it was a green dot.  And then, with all the lights off, the whole screen would glow green for the next half hour.  Kind of spooky when you're little.

Right under where it says Youtube Downloader in green letters on the left side of the page, it says 'download now'.  That's the link.

Thats because you tube isn't set up as a download site, you must use a 3rd party program like the one in Ofreens link or you tube ripper or something like that. Or am i not understanding you correctly..?
