Unemployed? Here's a job!!!
« on: March 04, 2011, 08:27:45 PM »
I am creating this thread because times are tough and we need to help out our own.  Many of us who are fortunate enough to have jobs work for companies that are hiring or know of someone hiring.  So, let's let our SOHC brothers and sisters in on the opportunities.

If this thread really takes off, maybe we can have it upgraded to a forum with individual topics based on trades or fields.

So here's what I have right now:
Union Pacific Railroad is hiring big time!!!  Here is the link to all their open positions by state:
http://www.unionpacific.jobs/careers/apply/index.cfm

Keep an open mind as they have openings in all sorts of career fields from trades to professional.

This time of year Home Depot is always hiring part time help.  If you are a plumber or electrician the pay is decent and once beyond 90 days it becomes a permanent part time job. Applications are done online only...Larry

You know what would be awesome.... If people could stay on topic and go elsewhere to boost their post count.
This is a great idea BTW.
I have a job for you.  It doesn't pay much but the benefits are great.  It's called "Lighten Up".

Thanks, Digger. I used to work on stuff for Southern Pacific when I first got into telecom many years ago. As I recall, they sold their existing network to a new company at the time called "Sprint". I had since forgotten the tech opportunities with the railroads..

Welding jobs are rarely posted as "Welder."  They are figured into other crafts and you kinda have to look for them.  For example, there are postings for "boilermakers" and that job is 95% welding and fabrication.

I dont need to lighten up. I am not going to bog this post down with any other non productive posts. My point is that some people who need a job may find this post helpful. If they have to dig through 3 pages of crap and your very astute advise they may not find what they need, so feel free to keep your advise to yourself. And BTW I have a job. Thanks. over and out.
When did you become the thread Nazi?  People who have no job actually do have time to dig through three pages of crap and if they really wanted a job, why would they be surfing this forum?  Perhaps they are looking for a posting like this?:

Wanted: Some one who can modify vintage Honda motorcycles. Top dollar paid.  No experience necessary.  Need own tools and place to work.

I see that you have added yet another generous contribution as well, my good sir. ;D
