anybody with Honda CL experience ??
« on: March 05, 2011, 07:02:43 AM »
I picked up a 73CL350 a couple of weeks ago and now I am looking for a new tank, mine is dented up pretty good and I  would like to replace it. It is hard to find tanks that are not dented. Which leads me to the question. What tanks will fit? I found a cb360 tank that looks similar to the cb350. I understand the cb350 tank will fit on the frame with no modifications needed. Would that be the same for the cb360 tank? Also I found a really nice cl450 tank, just not sure if that is too big. Any help before I spend my hard earned money would be appreciated. Thankyou

I believe any CL350 tank from '71 to '73 will fit correctly. The CB and CL have different seats, so you need a CL tank to fit. I doubt any other tank is going to match up to your seat correctly, even if it fits the frame. Keep your eye on eBay. There's a pretty nice '73 tank on there right now. Hope yours is red.

Thx guys for the replys. I am not to concerned with the seat as I have a fiberglass pan in the garage I maybe using. I am more worried about the tank cushions in front and the rubber strap at the rear. I would rather not get into any welding, as the closest welder I know is a few towns away. Stu, I missed that tank. It doesnt look to be in to bad of shape. I just really hate dented tanks. Some people hate finger nails against a chalk board, dented tanks are like that to me. Ah well.

Keep looking as swap meet season is starting soon.  You might be able to get by with a CL360 tank.

Stu, I missed that tank.
No you didn't. It's still there for $59.95 or best offer.

I have only had CL experience, I just got some SOHC 4 Bikes to mess with. The tank for the CB is longer but the bracket length is the same. Its just to hold more gas without them having to change the frame. I have both kinds CB and CL I had to buy 3 tanks to get one that I could use. Because the people on ebay only take pictures to show the best when you get it it looks like #$%*. I only like everything stock and everything to look brand new. It can be difficult. good luck, Paul
