73 CB500 Brake pads stuck!!!
« on: March 07, 2011, 02:39:26 PM »
Soaked them in PB blaster for 24 hours and still wont budge.  Grabed onto the pad with a pair of channel locks and nothing!  Any other tricks that I'm missing.  Is heating it an option?  Thanks Cliff

Pop the piston out first, that will take care of that pad.  If the 500 is like the 350, there is a small slot on the backing plate to put a suitably shaped object into...

Yeah I would have but the master cylinder is shot.  I suppose I should rebuild the master, reattach it and see if it pumps out.  I guess rebuilding both the master cylinder and the caliper at the same times out.  Anybody know where I can buy  rebuild kits?

does anyone know the part number for this rebuild kit???  and where I get it?  Its from motorcycle classics and they say that bikebandit sponsored the build but when I go to bikebandit there is no rebuild kit listed for the 500.  Is the 750 rebuild kit the same?

Thanks a lot #13!!! Just wondering why the heck its so much more expensive than the kits for all the other years?  Most of my research came up with everyone saying that theyre all the same.

There is a "Honda" rebuild kit and an aftermarket kit you can get from SCI and the like.  I can't remember the Honda specific part number off the top of my head but I got my M/C rebuild kit from Bikebandit.  It's under their number:  658250.
