Hi y'all
Badass motor for sure or should I say was, as it will require some work and quite a few parts to get the thing going. No gearbox and no oil pump either. The original gearbox was a Pete Miller 3-speed, constructed form Jaguar (car) overdrive units - gear change by compressed air (100+ psi). The magneto that is also on offer is a Vertex one with all the advance / retard gubbins removed so that it can be laid over on its side and driven by means of a toothed belt. This also means it's fixed advance. The Hilborn jets (pills) that went with the setup have apparently gone AWOL and if the previous owner did nothing to it as seems highly likely it is still set up for an 80% nitromethane 20% methanol diet. No pulley on the supercharger, but I assume that Mr. Magnuson could supply another one as the company appears to be still in business, half inch pitch, 25mm bore according to the manual, which I've still got. Still got the original bill of sale for the blower as well. Blower was run at approximately 15% over engine speed if memory serves. See the listing for the condition of the crank cos it's damaged unless of course W. Fish Esq of Blackpool who acquired the bike from me changed it for the spare, but I very much doubt it. In which case the spare crank has gone AWOL as well. There was also an A4 sized folder with copies of the Magnuson manual, Hilborn injection set up and gearbox, perchace that has gone the same way.
G. Magnuson Esq. offered these blowers for street use using a drive off the clutch. Never never seen such a set up myself, but there is a picture of one for a Kawasaki 900 in the manual.
I'm afraid it does ever so slightly pi$$ me off to discover that my original bike has been neglected and broken up. I often wondered what had happened to it, now I know at least partly.
Whoever gets this motor I wish them the very best of luck and I will be only too happy to provided any further info or assistance I can, but I do hope they will give it a good home put it to good use.
Cheers
Eric
