I won't make it... my bike is broken into it's most basic components at this point.  I wish like hell I could have made it though.  I would happily have ridden half way across the state to do a leg.  But, I guess being so far from having a completed bike is better than someone who is feeling the rush to get their project completed simply to make the relay.  At least I'm not under that gun.

BUT... come the next relay... I'll be ready to roll!

I haven't even considered this ride.  While there is still plenty of snow on the ground here it has actually been raining and sleeting for the last 5 days straight.  There are still lots of icy patches on the roads every morning and in fact more snow is predicted for all of the later half of this week.   For this time of year this is common weather.

From my point of view anyone who plans a ride this time of year just isn't paying attention to real life riding conditions, at least not in this part of the country.  I imagine the same things could be said by almost anyone in PA, OH, IL, or in fact just about any state north of I-70, which if I remember correctly constitutes about 2/3 of the population of the country.

Yeah, I kind of thought that trying to reach up into NC, VA, and especially WV and KY this early in the year with Team SE Coastal was pretty ambitious. But by the same token it may have been difficult to pick these states up later between Team Cantral and Team Mid-Atlantic. At least we've got more time to plan an alternate route/order of states for next year. As Jerry "Rxman" Griffin has metioned in several posts "This is our learning year" and what we learn from this ride will help us make next years ride even better.

Team Central may likely pass near you on their way to handoff to Team Mid-Atlantic so you might be able to ride a portion of that leg... I know they are still kicking around ideas for potential routes.

Hey.....I hear ya' about the weather.I did 12 years in Wyoming and it was normal to have winter storm warnings in the middle of July!!! They always say there...."If you don't like the weather in Wyoming...wait 5 minutes!!!"
I'm hoping there won't be anything anywhere that stops the progress of the rally but ya' know thats a tall order.

my route included a 12,000'+ Colorado mountain pass in Rocky mountain Park that won't get opened for close to a month after my initial planning. Back to the drawing board for a work around. AND, I'll be real surprised if all my individual pieces are a bike by then. I have been offered a loaner SOHC4 or I will ride my Harley along side a SOHC4. Just glad i have options.

would a commemaorative  plaque increase member participation?  I want one that I can put on my bike,  maybe fasten it with duck tape....would this increase the resale value??       really.    none of my machines are running at the moment. That can be fixed....      I need to give at least 24 hours notice at work, and the rabbit is ready to roll.
