cam and rocker wear - for Lloyd
« on: March 15, 2011, 07:32:55 AM »
Lloyd,
That bike has 14k miles over 30 years.  Lots of short rides.  Maybe the root of the problem?

Yes, I thought the wear was abnormal..hence the post.

How do you 'grind' the lobe and/or the rocker pad?  What to use?

Thanks,

Russell in B'ham.

If the rocker foot is worn, they must be replaced, as the hardness is gone. Same story for the cam, if worn deeper than 0.030" (0.8mm). If the rocker shafts are worn more than 0.002", they also need replacement.
