Getting Bowl o-rings to stay
« on: March 15, 2011, 06:50:59 PM »
Just did my carbs and the o-ring wouldn't stay in place..I tried the grease, but didn't work...And I was getting crazy, so I tried Crazy glue gel..Just a dab "Very small amount, like tip of a pen" in the corners and poof!..I was putting the bowls on in no time..

You didn't say if you were using Honda gaskets or ?

But I am glad that glue worked for you!

I hope that you are riding soon

Clear nail polish works too

Long time ago when I got round o-rings for the home-plate-shaped gasket channel, I cleaned it all up really good and used 4 or 5 strips of scotch tape to hold them in place (perpendicular to the gasket). Then once i put the bowls on and got the screws just to the point where they started to tighten, I blasted the tape with some wd40 and it pulled right out while the gasket stayed in place. Tighten the screws the rest of the way and it worked great.

I used five pieces of scotch tape bolted the bowls down and until i had just enough clearance to get the tape out, i just pulled it out slowly.

I bet nail polish or glue is faster but I couldnt find any for the life of me. Had the tape though  ;D

Parkers O-ring lube.  Glues them in place while protecting them.  Super glue and nail polish will harden your O-ring and reduce its life.

Nail polish will probably be gone before the end of the season. The gas in the bowl eats it quick. Crazy glue is proabaly fuel resistant.

I've tried the nail polish (clear) and tape.  Tape (masking or scotch) method works best.
