Help needed IDing Dunstall clip-ons
« on: March 16, 2011, 06:08:41 PM »
These clip-ons appear to be made for a CB500, but they are at a strange angle which makes me believe they are intended for another application.

There is a threaded hole in the bottom of the fork cap which fits onto the threaded rod in the fork tube, and another on top which bolts the clip-on to the fork cap. Does anyone know of a 35mm fork which would have the triple tree bolt further forward than this? On the cb500, there is very little turning radius.

Paul, I like the idea of the Dunstall clipon mountings, but unfortunately in my experience that's the way they sit - even on the CB750 Dunstalls.  Obviously made for E.T. or some other strange creature!   ::)  RR

I had Dunstall clip on's on my 75 750 back in the day and they did not leave very much room at all for a turning radius of any note. Great on the open road and through the twisties but not too flash for around town. Your bars look just like the one I had. (from my now much older and some what clogged memory). All the best in getting them fitted.

Thats 'cos they were designed to fit with a dunstal glass fibre tank and he did not alter the design when he went to tank covers.

From aged memory the fairing mount had lugs that went between the ears on the lower yoke and the steering stop on the frame to restrict lock and finger traping twixt bars and tank
