CB500 K2 hard start cold
« on: March 18, 2011, 01:02:32 PM »
My 73 starts real hard cold . The choke seems to make no difference, new battery, plugs carbs built and synced, new fuel lines with filters, new air filter I adjusted the idle mixture per the manual , any ideas ?

Meaningwhile the engine was running I turned the screws in until the idle stumbled and then back out til the idle stumbled and then set the screw for the best idle 1.5-2 turns out

That's too lean in my book. Standard setting in all the manuals I've seen is 1 +/-1/8 out. I remember it also having seen on a big Honda scheme on the wall of an official Honda dealer back then. The setting in the booklet by Honda America Company is not known here and could be wrong. Don't go for the best idle: bike will pur fine but will not accelerate well, as has been remarked by other members as well.
