Exhaust header gasket options.
« on: March 18, 2011, 07:21:26 AM »
Found the OEM gaskets on BikeBandit for $5.60

Found these: http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1597 and really liked doing business with the guys at Z1 last time I bought parts.

Is that the right gasket for where the headers meet the head?

Anyone know of other options?

If your bike is a 750 I don't think these are the right dimensions.
But, you don't say which bike it's for.

Standard exhaust gaskets are crush-able copper.  I would call and ask about the Z1 gasket, it appears to be a synthetic, possibly high heat silicone.  Then again the photo may be the old "stock photo, may not be actual item listed" trick.

Called Z1.  The guy told me that dimensionally it's the same thing, but it is not copper.  He assured me that it works the same.  Only thing I'm concerned with is removing that thing in the future.  I know some exhaust gaskets on my cars have fallen apart and left a mess to be scraped away.

Ah, I can highly recommend those.  I have used them on several projects and never had a problem.

They are easy to change out when you need to.

No big deal.  I've probably asked 10 questions on this forum (lifetime) and at least 9 I forgot to include what bike I'm talking about.

Thanks Toxic.  Sent you a PM about something unrelated.  Get back to me!

I've used that style of gasket, and removed them as well. No problems, and actually easier to remove than stock copper.
