Good news for 500/550 guys....
« on: March 18, 2011, 12:58:46 PM »
Just got off the phone with Kibblewhite and they will be releasing 500/550 valves. Should be in about a month or so.

I just had mine re done but am still curious. Is there any advantage to going with the kibblewhite over stock?

The exhaust will be much less expensive than OEM and the faces can be ground if you ever need to freshen up the top end. The intake valve should be around the same price as OEM BUT they will be offering a 1mm OS intake valve too. I assume they will have the Black Diamond finish which is pretty tough stuff.

So do you think I can get those in my head instead of the OEM ones?

Of course Jay...you just have to wait until I can get them in my hands. ;)

Great to know, so when I send you the next head, I can get the benefit of these new valves and the revamped port work that your time on the flow bench has aided.  ;D

I keep checking back to see if these valves have been offered yet!  Mike, let us know if you hear anything.  I'm checking their website every few days but you may have a more inside line on the situation.  I'm very interested in using these valves for a valve job I'm going to have done soonish (hopefully by MReick himself).

I was hoping to see some info on their site by now, still nothing.  Do they have a 'news' section?

Despite not making any progress on my engine rebuild I got antsy and emailed Kibblewhite a couple of days ago asking when the CB500/550 valves might be ready.  Today I got an email back saying they're due out for production in the next week and to check back at the end of the week.  I assume he means check their site.
This will be great for the 500/550 owners!

The 1mm OS intake valves are in stock right now. Waiting for the exhaust. ;)

I thought I read somewhere that 550 heads didn't have enough meat in them for much more than 0.5 over on the intake?

Uh, oh....if MRieck gets bigger 500/550 valves in his hands, I might have to hop up my 750, or else be embarrassed one day... ;D

This is interesting. I'd like to see the chamber with the 1mm o/s valve.
