Supports added,  I am adding new shock mount gussets and had some new shock mount bushings turned down.

I will be adding a removable aluminum tray to close in the back, should be done by next week.

Happy today, the tail section, shock mounts and beefy swing arm enhancements are done.  I found a local motorcycle fabrication guru to help me.  PM me if you want his details.

Absolutely, as you can see in one of the pics above there is a non modified swing arm on the bike with the chain.  We used that as our measurement tool.

Can you take a pic of the swing arm where the bolt goes through to mount to the frame? How much more weight does the modded swing arm weigh when compared to OEM..

Nice work! I wish I had a bike to measure off handy when I did my swingarm. It's tight!!

Excuse my ignorance, are you referring to the swing arm pivot bolt?  I can weigh it next week for you, not a problem. It would be interesting to measure the difference.

My goal is not about top speed on this bike, I have a track race bike for that.  My goal for this bike is to have a cool looking Cafe street bike and handles fairly decent. Not looking for speeding tickets.....LOL! I have seen smaller bikes at the track (250's) time and time again go faster than 1000cc bikes in the corners.  I have Ohlin twin shocks for the rear and 2006 GSXR600 forks for the front. I have a Harley front hub laced to a spoke rim to maintain the retro look.

cool looking swing arm. why did you modify it though I dont see what its going to do running dual shocks. would be awsome on a mono shock set up

Thats bracing Luap, makes it more rigid..... ;)  Quite a common mod on older twin shock bikes....

Apparently on the older twin shock bikes, with the U shape tubular swing arms, they have torsional twist that effects handling. This bracing technique is quite common to keep shocks working at the same dampening rate. It cant hurt and I also think it will look cool once it freshly powder coated :)

I had a local guy do the fabrication for me, he specializes in custom motorcycle frame work for many years.  Awesome work as you can see, he will weld a swing arm for anyone and also makes complete swing arms as well.

I hope to mount the new swing arm in the bike next weekend for a final fit check.
