What the ***? Stator Bolt Won't Turn All the Way.
« on: March 20, 2011, 12:26:13 PM »
Hey all,

If you have any idea on what might be seizing my engine, let me know before summer comes around ;D Short answers are more than appreciated because I just want to get an idea of what problems to look for before I stick my entire head in the motor.

So a bit of background on how i got myself into this mess. My bike was running "fine", except it was weeping oil and blowing smoke from the exhaust. So I recently changed the head & base gasket on a CB550K3, and "reassembled". While I was trying to adjust the point gap, I noticed that my stator bolt (the big bolt under the point cover) won't turn all the way.

Has anyone had this problem after engine reassemble? If not, any idea on where I could have gone wrong ???

Are you saying the motor will not turn over?  If that is the case and it turned over before you changed the gaskets, there is a good possibility the cam timing is not correct...Larry

Hmmm I must've missed something in the clymer manual during the reassembly then. Ill redo the procedure and let y'all know how it turned out.
