Spark Plug Wire Rot
« on: March 21, 2011, 03:48:17 PM »
The wire on number seems to be rotting at the connection with the plug cap. I cut it back a half inch to get to some good wire and now I'm having the same problem, doesn't seem like its connecting, and now number three appears to not fire.

Do I need to get new coils to get the new wires? If so what kind of coils work with the '76 CB550?

For my '76 550 I bought new wires and the splicers from Z1.  Don't have the link handy to their exact page (their site can be a bit rough).

This allows you to keep your coils if they are good.  Make sure the caps measure correct resistance also, while you're at it.
