Wheel Identification
« on: April 06, 2006, 07:19:03 AM »
I have a 1973 cb750 and the wheels that came with it are a mag style that have HA INDUSTRIES cast into them. Any info on these? I haven't been able to find a pic with them on any other 1973. Are they correct?

Cheers
Paul

Mag wheels were never standard Honda fittment, they must be aftermarket
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I wasn't sure because there is also "japan" in the casting.
I will try and get a pic of them, I would like to get some history if possible.

I happen to have a 1975 Petersen's Motorcycle buyers guide. There's a section on aftermarket wheels in there. Let me see what I can find on these...

My vote goes for Henry Abe wheels. Anyone else?

Unfortunately, no direct reference to HA in the Petersen's Guide. They list the following mfg's:
Morris Industries, American Mags, Yamaha, Kimtab (division of Tablock), RDD (Racing Research and Development), and Jacwal. The book listed a mini-buyer's guide and had a short article on cast wheels in general and covered some of Morris Industries operations.

The stock wheels on my 750 K3 were made (at least the rims) by DID.

Yep. Those are Henry Abe aluminum wheels. They occasionally come up on eBay and sometimes show up at swap meets. Never been as popular as the Lester or Morris mags; not sure why. They were made for a number of bikes, including the CB750K and F.
