New guy from Bama
« on: March 18, 2011, 10:45:35 AM »
Checking in to the forum from Bama. I'm new to this forum but not Honda CB750's. Had four of them through the seventies. Now I've ended up with two more, a 71 and a 74. Not sure what I'm going to do with each. I know the 74 was running six months ago so I'm going to get it going first. I also have an 04 Yamaha Roadstar which I've built and an 08 Yamaha FJR 1300 that's my daily rider. I've built several bikes in the past including a 1974 Norton Commando that I wish I'd kept. I've already spent a lot of time here reading and refreshing my old memory of maintenance on these great machines. The amount of info here is astounding. Hope to contribute in the future.

Welcome Ed. Good to see another young guy back into it  ;D These kids around here need elder advice often. Get your bike running and join the Relay Rally.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Welcome aboard Ed.  Glad you are back into CBs.  Maybe you can meet the group that will be at Barbers the 15th of April.  I plan to be among that group myself on my '74 CB750.

What area of Birmingham?  I'm in Hoover.

I'm in Pinson. About as far as You can get from Hoover and still be in Jefferson County. But I've got grown kids that live in Alabaster so I'm down there from time to time checking on my grandkids. April 15th will probably be doable. I hope to have the 74 running very soon. Got any idea where I can find an oil pressure gauge locally? It came with one but the glass is shattered. I need to replace it. Thanks.

RE: oil gauge.

Ed, if anyone local has it, it might be these guys:

Custom Performance
Bessemer, Al.
(205) 428-6266

A lot of what you get from these guys depends on the particular parts guy you get.  Some are better than others.
