wind protection or weight savings
« on: March 21, 2011, 08:49:06 AM »
So,I took off my full fairing the other day and worked on my bike a lil bit,wow is it easier to deal with without the fairing.I have a really bad back so any lil bit helps.I rode to work today(pacific northwest,RAIN)and I missed the fairing for the protection, but it feels so much smaller and easier to deal with.I love my rickman but the mounting cage and fairing are like an extra 35-40 lbs.I wish it was a half,I am tempted to sell it and get another one smaller, but it is a classic piece.

For your style of bike I think it looks better without the fairing.

Ill throw in another +1 on the style and fairing not matching too well IMHO. I have to say that means more to me personally though cause I never ride in the rain...

Bart

I think the half fairing would look better than the full one, and hopefully provide sufficient wind/rain protection.
Have you considered making a mold and reproducing a shortie version?

Thought about it,but I dont know squat about making molds,if you do I can bring it up to you and you can make yourself one.

I like the fairing with the original bodywork - looks good. If you make a shortie version Id be interested as well.
