Rooney1004's 1975 CB750K Build
« on: March 21, 2011, 05:30:03 PM »
Well I'm new here....and I have been wanting to get this thing online for a while now so here goes.  Picked up the bike last summer from a guy who had it for the last 20 years.  It has 25K miles on it and runs well... purchased for $1000.  I decided about a month ago to go ahead and tear it apart for a semi-complete rebuild.

I've appreciated all the knowledge/input that can be found on this site and equally have enjoyed looking at other people's projects and figured I'm probably not the only one, so here are some pics my progress.

Basically a buddy of mine hammered the tank which came out nice (not quite finished) and we used the gas tank off an old Harley Davidson Z90 to fab the seat.  Now that the fabrication is pretty much done, I have it torn down to the frame and am getting ready for paint.  CB900f rear shocks and progressive springs up front for the suspension and Dunlop GT501s for rubber.  Looking for a Kerker 4 into 1 for exhaust but man those things are pricey!!!  I'll keep you posted with updates.

Looks like you've made quite a bit of progress.  Those fork tubes look nasty.  Have you looked into replacing them yet?

Ha, yeah needless to say,  I was pretty disappointed when I took the fork ears off...  I just bought a set of OEMs off ebay for $145.  They are supposed to ship this week, can't wait.
