Topic: KV100 Racer

Hi,

I'm wanting to get into bucket racing, which for those of you who don't know is a form of bike racing and with small displacement single cylinder classes.

At the moment there is a littke Kawasaki KV100 for sale, and its in good order.

I've never had a two stroke before and I'm wondering what it would be like for racing?
how easy will the engine wear out?
How much am i looking at spending for a rebuild etc....

I like the idea of a two stroke, but ive also gotta weigh up the costs compared to a 4 stroke

I don't think we were ever offered the KV100 here in the states so I did a quick search to see what it was. It's a pretty cool little trail bike which probably explains why we never got it. The closest thing we got to that here was the KE100 which wasn't nearly as cool as the KV.

Anyway, two strokes of that nature are about as complex as a level 1 snap together model. Far less moving parts than a 4 stroke and generally more powerful. Bucket racing appears to be popular with the Aussies and the Kiwis and it sounds like one helluva lot of fun. I bet you could be competitive against the posties if you keep the throttle properly positioned.

Well I ended up getting a kv100, the clutch was slipping like crazy, so i opened it up to have a look. and it crumbled away in my fingers haha. so i put in some new plates and its good as gold. fun little bike.

I'm getting silly ideas of registering it and turning it into a little road bike, while my 550 is in progress
