Yes, 62.5 is right.  
One-eighth of anything is .125 of it, so 1/8 of 100 is 12.5 so 5x12.5=62.5

Another way to think about it is a half plus an eighth.  50+12.5=62.5

Even easier, 5/8 is .625, now just move the decimal point two to the right.  ;)

 Next month, I will explain how "chain pitch" X "number of links" can give you the length of a new or fresh chain..

..after reasding the main topic, seems like nobody thought of doing that..... ;)
