Man, what a bummer!  Maybe one of the o-rings shifted and got pinched.

MJ

Someone suggested re torquing the head but I can't see how that will work. I really don't want to spend another day to tear it down and then the time to zip it back up. I think it's sadly time to move on.

Just thought I would post a happy update to this.

Major headache came last week when I took it out for a ride and had oil blast out of the same place on the OTHER side of the bike.   At this point I was ready to give up but my friend told me to check the head bolts again. I thought there was no way they could back out as I had them to book spec torques and also LocTite on them. I removed the rocker head and checked them from inside to the outside by the book. All were tight...oh no...
Then I got to the 2 bolts right above the leak and got at least 2 more turns on them before I hit the torque value.

I can only think that I torqued them all to half the spec then did the others and forgot these 2. Anyway the wife and I went about 300 kms today and everything is dry.

I guess the total cost for new head gasket, O-rings, all new gaskets, relapping valves and new valve seals to be under $200.

Bought my CB550 last fall.  Had the oil weeping mentioned.   I paid someone to do it right.  Glad I did.   It was worth the peace of mind for me to have it done.  But others wouldn't mind a bit.  It depends on finances and intent for your ride.
