Congratulations with the birth of your first born Sander, to you and your wife. It is this "feeling" that has no comparison in life. Bryan is a (very) strong young man and is already 'back in business'. He can't wait to rehab, but first got to sit out this first few weeks.

Kind regards, Rob

Certainly surgery went well, a Ti rod is permanently put into his bone to support.

I hate those rods.  I had one that was 11 mm x 330 mm in my leg (ice hockey).  I got a massive infection there about 3 years later.  Rod needed to be removed.  I was on intravenous antibiotics for about 4-5 months.  The infection nearly killed me or would have caused me to loose my leg.  So if the leg gets very sore (difficult to walk), see doctor immediately.

It will take a long time to walk and then be able to run again.  God speed.

Hey Sam,

He is doing remarkable well. He keeps suprising me with his resilience. He has to sit out these coming weeks, but is eager to start rehab.
After the first shock for Tilly and me, he is helping us more than we do him I supposse.
Thanks very much for your interest. ;)

Cheers, Rob

Rob,

Thanks for showing me this!  I haven't been on here in awhile, so I've missed a lot it seems!!  I'm glad it was not as bad as it could have been, and that you have quite a few "strangers" on here that care about you regardless of how badass your parts may be!!  Wishing for a speedy recovery and the knowledge gained to benefit all in our riding endeavors!!  I had actually stopped wearing my body armor recently because it was too "uncomfortable" but a little voice kept telling me how stupid I was for it!  Guess this helped get my mind back to square one, so thanks again for posting it!  Thoughts and prayers are out for you and your family, which are def #1!!

Thanks for all the nice words. Does a lot of good for us all.

Just some pic's of my bike on which Bryan had his accident. Front and left of the bike got a beating. Head stock is bend and partially ripped. Have had the bike destroyed at a wrecker 'cause did not want Bryan to see it and maybe upset him.

Rob

First time I've looked at the Performance Forum so I just found this.

Very sorry to learn of Byran's accident and injuries. We'll pray for his speedy, complete recovery. Let's all be glad it was no worse (although certainly very serious). Certainly you and your wife are suffering along with Byran. When live shakes us by the heels, it gets our attention and, as you said, reminds us of what is truly valuable "when the chips are down".

"No love like the love for one's child".

Obviously, you are good folks. All of us are concerned for the four of you and are pulling for Byran's full recovery. We'll be checking back so, please keep us updated.

Thinking about each of you,

Gaither

Little update, Bryan is doing fine. Pain is gradually getting less. Got a better 'feeling' in his leg. We're even talking bikes again, and plan is to build a nice streetride F2/K7 combo. Got a almost complete F2 rolling chassis and a K7 engine lying around. Also a very nice set of Morris wheels. Think it would be nice to have it rideable when he is up again. Have to see what to do about the engine.
But it's just great to see and hear him being so optimistic.

Well so far all seems to be getting better by the day. Coming Wednesday his stitches will be removed. Puts me back in working mode, so started with building the wheels for the bike he can ride when he's up and running again.

Nice set of Morris wheels, 19" front and 18" rear. Turned a adaptor for a 245mm rear disk.
Front is done for 750 disks, but replacing them for much lighter CB900 disks.

Thanks Joe,

Think your quess is as good mine where these shoes are from. Pic is taken at a place the bike was brought to after the accident. Know for sure they came of a truck.

Today Bryan's stitches are removed and, though his leg is far from recovered, all is looking good. I  find it still hard to see how his leg is looking, all bruised and scarfed, but hey tho a grown man he's still my kid....... Hope he wont read this.
So now I can try to catch up with all the work that has been lying around.
Tomorrow will have a Avon roadrider mounted on the Morris front, so another step to the F2 revival taken.

Cheers to all, Rob

You are right Rob, family and friends are what matter. Glad to hear Bryan is on the mend. Will have a beer at Spa this year?

Thanks Phil,

Bryan is a strong lad and he definitely wil be fine. Time will heal Tilly's and my mental state of mind.
And we are taking that beer for sure. We'll keep in contact so we can make a solid appointment and exxchange phonenumbers. Two years ago RickyRacer and I should have met but couldn't find eachother.

Cheers, Rob

All my best, Rob, been on both sides of this one. I had to call my mom right away when I went into the hospital to have my leg cast, she taught nursing, and every nurse at every hospital knew who she was. She came and saw me, and she tried to play it like just another day, but I saw a little fear in her eyes. That was the year my daughter was born. Then she graduated high school a year early and went to school on the east coast at the ripe old age of 17...that's a hard thing for a Dad to get used to. That feeling of helplessness that you can't do anything for them..but..those experiences gave me a greater appreciation for life, and I call my mom a lot more than my kids call me.. ;)  He'll heal, but he'll have days that will remind him of the experience. You're in my prayers as well...

Thanks again for all the support you all gave me and my family. Happy to say that Bryan got on a bike again and drove for about 80 miles. All went well and his leg did not bother him at all. 'Though still limping, it is improving by the day.

Your all the best.
