Just want to close this in my mind. We're one year 'up the road' and happily can say that Bryan is doin' very well.
Have made his first outing on the track and did very well.
Just want to say thanks to everyone here for their very kind words.

A Happy set of parents.

Like I said in the other thread Rob, it's nice when father and son are like minded and can do things together.

Thanks Sam,

Yes it is very rewarding when your kids enjoy your hobby too!
Cannot seem to remember who that slim guy is!   Think he's growing some kind of beard to compensate for the loss of the rest. LOL

Cheers mate.

Rob. Im about to have my first kid, a boy, and cant even imagine what it must be like to recieve that kind of news. I've done it to my parents twice. Once with a broken arm and a second time with a shattered heel and broken back. I hope to never have my parents go through ot again.

Your sons probably heard this a lot, but his leg will get better year after year. Its been 4-6 years since my accidents and Im almost 100%. And I limped for a while. Just keep his spirits up, do some light strength training, and stretch, stretch, stretch. Accidents like this do a number on tendons.

Best of luck to you and your son. Nice looking bike too.

Thanx guys, again for your kind words. And Adam take it from me and (the other parents) "enjoy your kids, no matter what age". Along with some other personal probs, it has taken me a year to recover from all of that. Without my wife and kids it would have been even harder. Thank the man upatairs for them.

Cheers, Rob

hei rob, thats a really nice pic and an inspiring one  too....just what i neeeded.  recovering myself from a broken ankle + a spot of road rash that got badly infected, still limping, so this will help me keep motivated. planning to go back racing in July

Sure, not as bad as your son's accident, but still a shock to break some bones after 35 years of (pretty safe) riding.

Wishing  him a full recovery ASAP and hats off to him on getting back on the horse!

Wow TG,

Did not know that............hope you'll have a speedy recovery! Looks like a head on collision?
Yes, Bryan is a inspiration to us too. Been riding before but this was first time out on track.
All the best to you too and hope hearing from you.

Cheers mate.

well, didnt make a big deal from it as compared to what some people here have gone through, this was "minor" stuff :)

If there is one lesson learned is to insist on having good care given also to abrasions as the staff in the hospital was more focused on the big stuff like the fracture. the freak thing is that i was wearing full riding suit, boots and gloves, the abrasion was by the road grinding a hole through good spidi leather touring boots!!

Slid out on some crap/gravel/cow #$%* on a mountain road curve, losing the front end quite suddenly, bike slid under the guardrail and the the fork tubes met one of the guard rail posts at 80 km/h.... it snapped the frigginn' steering stem off.

yep, as always, could been worse,

at the end of my sliding found myself just next to the guardrail, seemingly didnt hit it (or didnt hit too hard... ), the bike bounced to other side of the road, maybe just caressing me... but cant say i remember every detail of the accident. helmet has signs of very light contact with somehing   ::)
