Can I use K6 carbs on a k8 cb750??
« on: April 08, 2006, 10:56:56 AM »
Hi all,
Quick question for the K8 guys....can I replace the carbs with a clean set from a CB750 K6?? Will the jetting be drastically different and will the airbox be compatible with the K6 carbs?? Has anyone tried this??

Thanks in advance,
Andy in Boston

i have older carbs on my 78F engine. it can be done without too much trouble.

the k6 carbs are very different thatn the k8 carbs. you can use teh k6 carbs, but you have to also change the rubber intake boots that mount to the head. not a big deal, they do fit onto the head just the same, the didfference is the carb throat is a smaller diameter on the k6 carbs so you need the boots to match them.

the airbox for you k8 will not work with the k6 carbs, again because of the difference in the carbs size. you could either get pods or get the older air box, or just get the rubber pices from an older air box and use them with your box.

another possible issue is that on mine the original throttle cable was a little too long to go with the k6 carbs. i dont know if that is always the case.

if your bike is stock, the stock jetting for the k6 should be pretty good for your bike, as they arent really any different inside.
