What's the best Clip-On's for the $$$ ?
« on: April 07, 2006, 02:29:20 PM »
Hey,

I have come to realize that in my quest to make my bike look the way I want it to, I am gonna need lower bars on the thing.
I love the bars I have now, but they dont fit the "model" of the bike in my head.

I need some clip-ons, but which ones ?

I really dont care who makes them, just need a pair that will work with my bike. I dont need a set of big $$ ones that are adjustble and all that crap, just need them to stay on the tubes, not move, and have enough room to mount everything I need, I.E throttle and master cyllinder.

Anyone have a good suguestion on where to look , what brand , etc ?
Anyone have a pair they wanna sell me for cheap > ?

Let me know........

Ebay has tons of clip-ons that will fit our bikes.  Just do a search for 35mm clip ons.  Enjoy.

Parts Unlimited has a bunch of 'em.  I don't know if they sell to individuals, but indie shopd will have their catalogue.

i have teo sets of clip ons on two different bikes. one is paulo tarozzi. they are very nice with seperate clamps and bars. you can adjust then somewhat. the others are telefix. they are just great. they have so much adjustment i dont know what to do with it all. i'm in love with these bars.

i got both set from ebay and each was around $50. so you can get some nice ones for a fair price if you wanna go that way. the new ones i looked at cost about the same for just the basic ones that didnt adjust. and the nice ones were ourageous. adjustment is important to me in clip-ons because the riding position can be a little extreme, and it helps to move the bars to find what will be most comfortable for you.

the stock master cylinder is kinda long with, but it can be used with most. sometimes it just sticks out past the bar some on the banjo end.

When I got my Clip-ons, I jst did a web search for 35mm clip ons and found a bunch here and there, I bought the cheapest set (around $30). I like them but I had two problems: 1.) The MC sits close enought o the bar that I could not move the banjo end any further on than up to the fork. Since the stock MC is so long, it pushed everything right out to the end of the bar. I had to have a 3" extention made, and I was still hanging over the end by about an inch. 2.) The bar's mounting bolts are on the inside next to the tank which forced me to fab up some adjustable handlebar stops to prevent the small little dents from getting any bigger.

Solutions: 1.) I bought an after market MC and that allowed me much better movement as far as placement goes on the bars. I think I could even get ride of the extentions now if I wanted to... that would create brake hose issues and cable shortenings and I don't want to deal with that just yet. 2.) The Bar stops reduced turning radius, but also stopped the dents from increasing in size.

I wish that was my woman  ;D
The bike and the woman are from Sucker Punch Sallys, prob. my favorite bike shop at the momment, along with Exile...

I def. dont wanna get a set of clip-ons that will end up smacking into my tank. Did you other guys have these issues ?
Which is a proven set , that is cheap, and will work without me having to modify them.
I want to bolt them on and go...

either of the sets i mentioned will bolt on and go. no mods. the mounting bolts on both are countersunk and dont stick out at all.

I've never seen them or heard anything about. I just noticed them when I was looking for other stuff. I like partnmore though. Decent place to buy stuff.
