Anybody seen this bike? Stolen and still looking...
« on: March 17, 2011, 10:17:21 PM »
Hey guys my bike was stolen a few months ago and I still cant get over it. Was my first bike, got it free and poured everything I had into it and obviously (like everyone on this forum probably did with their first) fell in love with it. It was in my garage locked up, the scum cut the lock and basically stole everything they could (old arai helmet, ALL my tools yada yada). The VIN# is CB550-1000996, i had just put a set of the later 4-4's (they had rotted on the bottom end and the PO spot welded them and painted black bands near the tips of two of them. Im in Virginia and I suspect it could be anywhere by now, but Im determined Ill find it one day and inflict some heavy vengeance.

Anyways heres a few pictures

do you have any shady parts of town near you or the next town over? That happened to my car when I was a kid. Had all my tools, cds, etc. you know how you "live out of your car" when your a kid...anyway they found it on blocks in the city next to my town...it really sucks :-\ Did you file a police report? I know they sometimes don't do much but, you should document it if you haven't already...

also, keep your eye on ebay, if they stole it to sell it, they most likely will do it in parts...I noticed a few 550 motors up there recently...

Hope you get lucky man!

Do sit on eBay and setup RSS feeds for Craigslist in your town and surrounding areas for any keywords you think might show up. I'm 6 months in and haven't seen anything from my bike go by yet - nothing I could identify positively anyway - but I'm hoping that means the #$%*s have kept it and will bring it to a local bike night. Then vengeance... blood... all that.

Hey man this seriously sucks but I'm a little amazed that in America people actually steal our old bikes? Here in New Zealand there is such a small market for these old dinosaurs that they are pretty safe. If they cut the lock and managed to cart away all that stuff it tells me they have cased your place pretty well and came with a van or trailer to cart away everything.
We need a universal owners key that is easily removed but cripples that bike so the theives have to push it, that will slow them down.
Hondaman, there's your next project, make up a deadlock key we can easily fit which kills the bike's electrics.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

on a honda goldwind my father use to own, if i remember correctly,  had a type of flash drive chip that when pulled out stopped all electronics...no matter what the bike would not start until that was put back in..would just suck to lose that though...

I had a bike get stolen from me 4 days after I bought it. I did the whole police thing. About a year later I get a call from the guy I got it from saying that a guy was looking for the title for it. (it still had some old paperwork of his on it) I called the cops and went to pick it up. All the cops did was look at the vin, say "yep, it's your bike," then leave. They didn't even ask the guy where he got it! Anyway, I got back part of my bike. I rebuilt it then got hit by a truck about a month after it was totally finished. Best thing about that story is that I now own a 78 cb750(836)F. ;D

You may want to check the local salvage yards.  I had a bunch of motorcycle stuff stolen and found it at the local salvage yard. Cop told me to check there, saying the whatever they get from salvage is more that they had before for the next fix....Larry

I found my stolen CB125S at the cycle salvage yard.  They had a cycle repair shop there.  Someone brought it in for repair about 6 months after it was stolen.

A hurricane missed our area (Beaumont, TX) and messed up school and work schedules.  I dropped my wife off at work and had some time to kill and stopped at the cycle salvage.  I saw my bike, left and called the cops (had filed police report).  They gave it to me.  Cops couldn't find the whoever it was that brought in for repair.  It had been sitting there for a while.  The spark plug was loose and water filled the cylinder, ruined the bore and piston...

Now, if I could find my motorcycle trailer that was stolen in College Station Station, TX in 1987.  I'm sure it is somewhere around Caldwell, TX.

You might get yours.  Don't give up.  Keep looking, esp CL.
