chain oiler in or out?
« on: March 24, 2011, 01:53:34 PM »
sorry,I did search. To cut it off completely, all the way in or Out?Cb750K3.Thanks,I am at work and my rear tire is covered with oil and I am trying to fix the problem before I put it back together and ride home.I am almost certain it isnt my breather tubes. The oil is all over in the front sprocket area, possibly an oil seal on the sprocket shaft?

I am guessing too. I have the 78 which does not have the chain oiler in the sprocket. I think it is probably (as bollingball said: clockwise to turn it off.

A suggestion: count the turns when you turn it in until it bottoms and then back it out 1/2 of that? At least you will see if you have the desired effect when you get home.

In is off . There's a rubber puck attached to a metal plate in there . When you tighten the bolt in it squeezes the puck causing it to widen and block off the hole . Check it periodically as they sometimes back out again .

thanks everyone.I am driving the truck today and bringing the ramp.left the bike at work and was too busy to do anything anyway. This same thing happened to me when I tried to go to the Vashon Island Rally. It cleared up after I changed the oil.I am assuming that after 1000 ish miles when the oil viscosity gets thinnner then that is when I have this problem. It has to be the front sprocket seal.(I think)We will see,man made the machine, man can conquer the machine.
