Beautiful work I really appreciate the attention to detail!  Its amazing how similar our engine builds are! I am still on the fence about lightening my crank, but it will be balanced at a minimum... I clicked through the build but didnt see what cam you ended up going with... 126-20?

I can't wait to get my head/cylinder back from Mike!

Picked it up a Yoshi from Greggo a few years ago. Actually Bill/BentOn Racing orginally purchased it back in 1985 on clearance. I found that out because he posted photos in a thread from 2009 and I recognized the box. Here is that thread. His mention of it is post 32.

It is a Isle of Man TT B grind. Never been used. This is the info I have scrapped together on it:

Int opens 27°BTDC
Int closes 57°ABDC lift 9.00mm
Exh opens 56°BBDC
Exh closes 27°ATDC lift 8.55mm

Crazy, it seems like these are popping up lately!  Two other forum members bought them (today). I passed only because it was 'Megacycle money' and I decided to go with the newer, hard-welded option.   

I love the old NOS stuff though.. half wish I picked one up  :-\

Ill be watching your build and will be referencing it regularly as I put mine back together!

I wish you had it running so you could tell me wether or not you liked the lightened crank! thats my next decision..

Really? Those don't pop up often. Were the A or B grinds?

Two of the 122-00 Yoshimura Isle of Man cams popped up on eBay. I grabbed one and Sinister grabbed the other. I'm looking for the milder grind too if you know of any.

Sweet! Including mine those are the 2nd and 3rd ones I have heard of in the past 5 years. Used? New? Mind if I ask the price?

Got a few parts in and have had a little time to tool on the bike.

Got my timing wheel and borrowed a dial gauge. First time setting TDC so I went slow. Not hard but took my time none the less. Got it set where I felt TDC was, threw the timing advance piece on and the index mark hit dead center on the "T" mark. Also got the cam oriented correctly. Threw some red loctite on the bolts and torqued em down.




My C5 ignition came in so I got it mounted on the bike. Still need to wire it, install the coils, and setup.



And then I also started getting my remote oil filter mounted and ready for plumbing. (please ignore the wires, still in rough form making sure everything works)

I decided to change up my gauge setup to better accommodate my fuel sending unit I have in my tank. Turns out the Acewell wasn't overly compatible with my Yamaha thermo style fuel sending unit. (Live and Learn). Since a tank modification is out of the question I made the change to a MotoScope Pro gauge. It will do everything that I want and more. So it (along with a Breakout box, resistors, m-relay, and a mounting bracket) came in the mail yesterday. I was already using a Motogadget compact push button for my start so I also picked up another one to control the gauge.

I proceeded to bend the mount to about a 35 degree angle, drill two M8 mount holes to the stock triple upper, drill two M12 holes for the buttons, and trim a curve into the bracket so it flowed nicely with the bike. I still have some fine tuning to do to get my spacing just how I want but I think it turned out pretty good.

Looks like either 1,3, & 4 or 2 are backwards. Haven't been in the garage but looks like I will be taking the motor down to figure it out. Thanks for having difficultly with yours ;) Not looking forward to tearing down the motor but better to find out now then after first start.

Oh man that's horrible but I'm glad we caught it.
#2 is correct. The others are switched in the photo. The larger reliefs are the intake valve reliefs.

Wow ya good eyes!  Also the rods should be "letters forward" from everything I have read (and how mine was installed stock).  I'm uncertain if his makes any difference but I have seen it referenced in a couple of threads.

Wow, what an amazing build, can't wait to see this thing running! ....can you please tell me what master cylinder this is? I just order one from Cognito but it's ridiculously big and would prefer this style.

Hello Internets!

I haven't posted in quite some time. Had quite the busy year. As anyone who can read above, you know that I hit a snag with my motor. One really should put things together correctly, haha! I've been working on the bike off and on. I also decided to make a couple changes but I thought I would make some updates before the year is done.

I picked up a fly screen and changed up the headlight bucket. The one I got didn't fit my light how I wanted. Also got some different mounts for Motodemic. Overall, I am happier with the look.



I was also never a fan of the stock nut for the shocks so I had this nut made for me.

I ran into some issues with my exhaust when trying to mount for the first time. The number 2 pipe was high and did not want to fit. To fix this I had the pipe cut, picked up a backup head, had it re welded, and cleaned up the weld. It is currently out being ceramic coated. I also moved the back mount point so I can "hide" that bracket. More pics on that later.
