Ok, since I almost universally got the "It's your bike" comment when asked about my red frame I decided to repaint it. Of course now I get "The Red looked really cool" comments but that's a different story. I'm returning the bike to almost stock 76 F1 standards with a couple changes. I was going to cafe it but it's just not as comfortable.
I painted the frame with single state urethane and have plenty of it to paint the tank, tail and side covers. Then I'd also want to paint the engine black with polished alternator, shifter and valve covers. I would have the Honda emblems and I may do the 77F orange "C's" but I may also just leave it all black.
The cheap side of me says do it but I'm worried about visibility, especially at night from the side.
My other choice is 65 Corvette Nassau Blue for the tank and tail with Black side covers. I'd probably do an aluminum color like stock.
Also, I know there are reproductions of the side decals, both for the 77 F paint scheme that I have now and also for the 75 Blue paint which is pretty close to Nassau Blue. Do those get cleared over?
