i sat the engine on it's butt-end on the bench, and blew compressed air around beneath the crank with a long rubber hose attached to a blow gun... it finally showed itself, and I reached in with a little grabber tool. whew, what a relief that was!

Right now it's sitting on the shelf...  ::) It took me a while to be able to even look at it after the broken cylinder stud. I got the stud extracted, but the insert threads are buggered. Now I have to tap the hole for a 1/4" pipe plug, mill it flat, and re-drill/tap the 8 X 1.25 hole. I'm getting there...  :-\
