They don't have chips in the US only 'French Fries', now we could discuss what oil we use for chips.
I remember the Yanks started to call them 'freedom fries' in protest to the French who - truely using their intelligence - were not willing to invade Iraq for it's 'weapons of mass destruction'.....
I have the feeling lessons are learned now and everybody calls them french fries again...
And no, I will not go in a oil debate...

What kind of oil should I use for my freedom fries?

Hush, sorry I for not replying sooner but I use the same oil as Dave500 - Penrite Gas 20-60. I purchase it from SuperCheap. I would have thought the SuperCheap stores in NZ would stock it. Pat

Dang Tipper you sure missing out on a good feed, Fish'n chips is like Maccers to us. :D

I googled maccers and I got this;

About me:
I am a gentle, attractive, easy going, outgoing, loving, caring, fun loving, patient, sociable person. I am also a down to earth person. I am hoping to meet that some special.
I have been single now for far too long and although I am content with my own company and have a great circle of friends I would love to be with that special someone.

Macdonalds does fortune telling? I thought they just sold burgers that tasted like cardboard and chips French fries that were hard as nails!
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Ahhh, you meant McDonalds.  That place will KILL you!  ;D  Have you seen the movie Supersize Me?  That guy should have died.  Their salads are 450 calories.  You have to work really hard to make a salad that heavy in calories.

Iraqi oil?  Or, is that too crude?

Nothing wrong with the Maginot line TT, a great feat of French engineering, shame it only streached so far and you could drive a panzer around the end but who knew? ;D

HUSH
As I mentioned - I can get the ELF oil in 10w/40 or 20w/50 formulation specified for "4-stroke Motorcycle" and with "anti clutch-slippage properties. It is semi-synthetic  mineral based.
You too can get this from Motor Machinists in Palmy - pay by d/c and get them to courer - but it will cost you about $10 - they are happy to courier to you in Napier. Call them on (06) 3564832.
My last pack of 20W50 (MOTO 4 DXI - 3 litre) cost me $38.56.

I just use Castrol GTX, and make sure it doesn't say anything about anti slippage additives. All the detergent does is make the bike blow bubbles out the tail pipes ;)  In the cooler months I'm using 10w-40, but once it warms up, and especially if I plan to do any really long rides, I use 20w-50.

And as for the french fries, I just toss them in the engine before an oil change, about 10 mins later, drain engine and eat fries ;)

Sure it's for sale! How much you ask?? Well, how much are you willing to pay??? Now triple it, that's the price!

I've been using 10w/40regular motor oil since the bike was new. Even with all the additives I get no clutch slippage - original clutch 50,000 or so miles. I've been using Amsoil in my '99GL1500 but once I use up what I have, I think I'll switch to Delo. A lot of the Goldwing owners are using it and like it a lot. It's not too expensive either.

Castrol, Torco, Kendal .   I've used these brands and have never had any problems.  And believe me, with
a turbocharger running high boost you need a great oil that can stand very high heat.   :o
