What year Forks Fit?
« on: March 29, 2011, 07:36:54 PM »
I am looking to replace my whole fork assembly with a used set. I have looked at the reverse part number sites, but I dont think I am doing it right. I have the parts numbers but it just gives them back to me.

So, alas, another noob question; which years will fit my 75 750k and match up with everything else that I assume is stock on the bike? is it 75-77?

Also can someone explain the reverse part lookup? I thought it would let me put in a part number and it would say which other bikes were the same...

A comprehensive list exists in the Suspension FAQ section

this list?

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=370.0

Doesnt say which fork dampers are the same. I have seen pictures of internals that are different. I am afraid of putting in some money on some then get them and the caliper doesn't fit or something like that.

I almost bought some on ebay that said they were for a 75-77 but no info on if they are K or F. Talked to a couple people that are selling theirs here and I'd like to know for sure.

anyone know? Or willing to tell me how to use a webtool to look it up?

i found a part number and just searched it on bikebandit and a list came up for 72-76k , but I have found a couple posts where the 72 and 71 dampers were the same or at least different than other years?

From a PM, in case anyone else needs the information.

"73-76 are the same lower legs, 77/78 K  and 750A (and early F models), look the same as the 73-76 but are taller, the seal area is at about tire height, a bit more stable and easier to get a fork-brace.
trees from 73-76 are the same, 77/78 K and auto have different offset.
leg assemblies from all years should fit all triple trees, as long as the trees are in sets."

Re pic sent,They sort of look like the longer ones.
I would ask about condition of chrome, if the tubes look hardchromed (ie factory finish the long leg ones had), and try to get a measurement axle centre to fork boot.
