Carb over flow tubes?
« on: March 30, 2011, 07:41:14 AM »
CB750 K8 PD 42b carbs  While looking at my carb bowls I see all the over flow tubes are 5mm above the gasket seam. It looks like it would leak out the gasket area before it reaches the top of the tube. Is this how they are suppose to be. It just does not look right.

Don't know about PD carbs, but are you sure you are looking at overflow tubes and not maybe vent tubes?

mjstone: Thanks for the reply. There is only one tube in the bowl. Vent goes out the top and ganged to all four carbs through a common pipe and has a tube that goes up above top of carbs.

It is the over flow tube I can blow air at the bottom where you would hook up clear tube for float level test. But why would it be 5mm above bowl gasket? It looks factory they are all the same. Anyone know if this is correct?

It is correct.  The bowl gasket is not designed to leak.
